The Vision
Claude Code is powerful, but using it in tmux can be clunky. This plugin aims to make the experience seamless—smooth scrolling, better keybindings, and tmux-aware UI improvements.
The goal: Make Claude Code in tmux feel as good as it does in a modern terminal emulator.
Planned Features
- Smooth scrolling and navigation
- Tmux-aware split management
- Custom keybindings optimized for tmux workflows
- Session persistence
- Copy/paste integration with tmux buffers
- Visual mode improvements
Why This Matters
Many developers live in tmux. It's fast, flexible, and battle-tested. But modern tools like Claude Code often assume you're in a standalone terminal.
This plugin bridges that gap, bringing the best of AI-assisted coding to tmux power users.
Technical Approach
Planned implementation will leverage tmux's plugin system and scripting capabilities to:
- Hook into Claude Code's rendering pipeline
- Intercept and enhance keyboard input
- Manage pane splits and layout intelligently
- Integrate with tmux's copy mode
Who's This For?
- Tmux power users who want AI-assisted coding
- Remote dev environment users (SSH + tmux)
- Developers who prefer keyboard-driven workflows
- Anyone tired of UI compromises in terminal multiplexers
